The Prince and Princess of Wales have had a busy period filled with engagements, including William’s recent visit to a military base on Thursday. However, royal watchers may not see much of the couple in the coming weeks.
William and Kate are expected to spend time with their three children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis — once the school term ends at Lambrook School.
The children are due to break up from school on Friday, and the couple currently have no further engagements scheduled for the rest of the week. The family typically steps back from public duties over Easter, and last year they spent the holiday at their Norfolk home, Anmer Hall.
Instead of attending the traditional royal church service in Windsor, the family chose to go to a service at St Mary Magdalene Church in Sandringham. The royal family had previously attended the Windsor service each year, though it was also missed in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, and again in 2024 following Kate’s cancer diagnosis.
Work аhead of break
Both William and Kate took part in several engagements this week, including a visit to Canterbury on Wednesday for the installation of Dame Sarah Mullally as the new Archbishop of Canterbury.
The Prince and Princess of Wales were seen smiling and applauding alongside the 2,000-strong congregation, as those attending the historic ceremony broke into applause following Dame Sarah’s formal enthronement.

Although the couple did not take on an official role during the ceremony, they listened closely to the new Archbishop’s first sermon, in which she spoke about her hopes for peace in the Middle East and addressed safeguarding failures within the church.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, William wore camouflage as he visited female soldiers from the 1st Battalion at Bulford in Wiltshire. During the engagement, he heard firsthand about their experiences serving in the military.

The former helicopter pilot also met with troops who had recently returned from a six-month deployment in Estonia.
During the visit, he watched a demonstration showcasing how drones are used in urban combat scenarios.
