The Princess of Wales carried out a discreet royal engagement on Wednesday morning, holding a private meeting away from the public spotlight.
Princess Kate, 44, who serves alongside Prince William as joint patron of the Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales, welcomed the organisation’s Chief Executive, Sarah Henwood, to Windsor Castle.
The meeting formed part of the future Queen’s ongoing involvement with the charitable foundation she oversees with her husband.
The engagement took place behind closed doors, with no photographs released from the private meeting.
Sarah Henwood became Chief Executive of the Royal Foundation in February, succeeding Amanda Berry, who had led the organisation since 2022.
Wednesday’s meeting was not the first recent occasion on which the Princess of Wales had welcomed the foundation’s new chief executive to Windsor Castle.
In fact, Catherine had received Sarah at the same royal residence just the previous Monday, making this their second private meeting there within a matter of days.
When Sarah Henwood took up her position with Prince William and Princess Kate’s Royal Foundation in February, she expressed considerable enthusiasm about the opportunity to lead the organisation.
Sharing her thoughts on LinkedIn as she prepared to begin the role, Sarah described experiencing “awe, excitement and a fresh energy” as she looked ahead to this new chapter in her career.
Her appointment also coincided with a personal change in how she would present herself professionally. Sarah revealed that she was adopting the name Sarah Henwood for her new position, having previously used Sarah Rose on her online profiles.
The change formed part of what she described as a personal “rebrand” as she began her responsibilities at the Royal Foundation.
In a LinkedIn post announcing her appointment, Sarah Henwood spoke about her enthusiasm for joining the Royal Foundation and contributing to the work already being carried out on behalf of Prince William and Princess Catherine.
She wrote: “I take up the reins as CEO of The Royal Foundation in February with awe, excitement and a fresh energy to play my part in the brilliant and important work the team there is already doing.
“I am not a big poster on LinkedIn, but I will use this platform going forward to shine a light on some of the remarkable initiatives the Foundation is working on for the Prince and Princess of Wales.”
Since beginning her new position, Sarah has become more active on the professional networking platform, regularly highlighting projects and initiatives associated with the royal couple.
Reflecting on her experience in the role, she has also described the opportunity as “extraordinary”, underscoring her enthusiasm for the foundation’s work.
The private meetings at Windsor Castle took place during a particularly active period for the Princess of Wales, whose recent schedule has included several public engagements.
Among them was a visit to Southend-on-Sea, where Catherine joined the Forward Trust in recognising Addiction Awareness Week and highlighting the organisation’s work.
The Princess also enjoyed a glamorous evening alongside Prince William at the London premiere of Digger in Leicester Square last week.
During the event, Kate reunited with Hollywood star Tom Cruise, who displayed a courteous gesture by extending his hand to help her navigate a set of steps.
