Kate Looks Strikingly Different Today — And It’s Not Just Her Hair

The Princess of Wales travelled to West Sussex on Wednesday morning for her latest public engagement, spending time with a volunteer-run transport service that supports people across the local community.

Kate visited West Sussex Minibus, an organisation providing an essential connection for residents who may struggle to use conventional public transport because of mobility difficulties, social isolation or financial circumstances.

The service is marking its 50th anniversary this year and has expanded considerably since it was first established. During the visit, Catherine stepped aboard one of the minibuses and spent time speaking with the volunteers who help keep the organisation running.

For the engagement, the 44-year-old Princess switched up her usual hairstyle, sweeping her hair into a sleek and carefully styled ponytail.

Catherine dressed for the cooler autumn weather in an elegant charcoal coat, believed to be Jigsaw’s Wool Maxi City Coat. Its neutral shade made it an easy-to-style wardrobe staple, while the longer silhouette combined practicality with a sophisticated finish.

Underneath, Kate wore a pussy-bow blouse with tailored grey trousers, adding a richer seasonal touch with burgundy heels.

The mother of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis completed the look with understated makeup, keeping her beauty look fresh and natural.

Kate began her morning with a special visit to the home of 94-year-old Stella Drewett, a former school cook, before accompanying her to join the community minibus.

Mrs Drewett had only been informed shortly beforehand that she would be receiving a royal visitor and admitted she was astonished by the news.

“I couldn’t quite believe it. I am quite a new member. It’s a great service. I used to drive myself until I decided to spare the other road users. Everyone said to me ‘But what are you going to do now?’ And I did think ‘Oh gosh what am I going to do now?’ But they take me to the supermarket once a week and we go down to the village hall for the lunch club. It’s a very valuable service. It’s wonderful.”

Kate’s West Sussex appearance marked her second royal engagement in less than 48 hours. Just a day earlier, the Princess had joined Prince William for an unexpected visit to the north of England.

The couple, who have now been married for 15 years, travelled to Headingley Rugby Stadium, the home ground of Leeds Rhinos. During their visit, William and Kate learned more about the powerful efforts of rugby league figures Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield to increase awareness of motor neurone disease (MND).

During their time at Headingley, William and Kate were introduced to more of Leeds Rhinos’ history and heard about the lasting influence Rob Burrow’s legacy continues to have throughout the club and its wider community.

For the poignant engagement, Catherine opted for a refined yet appropriately understated outfit. She wore black flared trousers by Roland Mouret with a simple black Joseph tank top, creating a sleek foundation for her look.

The Princess completed the ensemble with one of her familiar wardrobe staples – a double-breasted Ralph Lauren blazer from a previous season. Designed in a rich racing-green shade, the timeless piece added subtle colour while remaining versatile enough to wear throughout the year.

Last Thursday, Kate carried out a solo engagement in Southend-on-Sea, where she spent time with the Forward Trust as part of events marking Addiction Awareness Week.

Staying true to the polished heritage-inspired aesthetic that has become a hallmark of her wardrobe, Kate built her outfit around cropped Joseph trousers in a deep chocolate-brown shade.

She teamed them with a coordinating brown knit and Boden loafers, before adding a sophisticated finishing layer with a double-breasted jacquard blazer from Max Mara.
