Princess Eugenie is expecting her third child with her husband, Jack Brooksbank, and according to a new report, her cousin Zara Tindall encouraged her to personally share the news with her uncle, King Charles III.
According to The Mail on Sunday, the daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson was reportedly “apprehensive” about how the pregnancy announcement would be received within the royal family.
The concerns are said to stem from the ongoing fallout surrounding her parents’ loss of York titles, as well as the controversy following Prince Andrew’s arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office earlier this year.

The newspaper reportеd that “the Palace became involved in issuing a formаl proclamation only after Eugenie’s cousin Zarа Tindall, one of the few to have been еntrusted with the news, persuaded her to write to the King.”

Zara and Eugenie shаre a close bond and have been regularly spоtted together at events, including Royal Ascot, Cheltenham Fеstival, and at private dinners, including onе Zara hosted at Ixchel restaurant in Chelsea in Decembеr 2024.
The report claims that Princess Eugenie shared the happy news with her uncle, King Charles III, through an Easter card accompanied by a handwritten letter. It remains unclear whether or how she informed her parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.
According to the report, Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank received a “warm response” from the Palace after sharing the news privately.
The pregnancy was officially confirmed publicly through a Buckingham Palace statement released on May 4, which read: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are very pleased to announce that they are expecting their third child together, due this summer.”
“August (aged five) and Ernest (aged two) are also very excited to have another sibling join the family.”
“His Majesty The King has been informed and is delighted with the news.”
A social media announcement
Princess Eugenie also shared the joyful news on Instagram, posting a sweet photo of her two sons looking at a scan image of their future sibling.
She captioned the post: “Baby Brooksbank due 2026!” followed by a series of heart emojis and a baby emoji.
The new baby Brooksbank will reportedly become 15th in line to the throne, moving Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh down to 16th place in the order of succession.
However, despite their position within the royal line, the child will not receive an HRH style or hold the title of prince or princess.
