King Charles III has returned to Joint Base Andrews aboard a helicopter provided by Donald Trump, bringing his visit to the United States to a close.
After four days of engagements across Washington D.C., New York, and Virginia, the state visit by the King and Queen Camilla has officially concluded. Donald Trump personally bid farewell to the royal couple as they wrapped up their final day.
Their schedule included a formal send-off at the White House alongside Melania Trump, a wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington Cemetery, and a community block party in Virginia to round off the visit.
King Charles III has now departed the United States and is on his way to Bermuda, following a four-day state visit alongside Queen Camilla.
The King arrived aboard HMX-1—referred to as Marine One when carrying the U.S. President—and was welcomed on landing by Chief of Protocol Monica Crowley, along with the UK Ambassador, Christian Turner.
He was greeted with full ceremonial honors, including an armed forces cordon, a red carpet reception, and music from the U.S. Air Force Band, as he acknowledged the occasion with a wave from the aircraft steps.
With the U.S. leg of the tour now complete, Buckingham Palace confirmed that the King will continue on to Bermuda—his first visit to a British Overseas Territory since becoming monarch. Queen Camilla will not be accompanying him for this part of the trip.
The Bermuda leg of the tour is scheduled to run from April 30 to May 2, 2026, with a focus on celebrating the island’s culture, environment, youth initiatives, and public service. It will also shine a spotlight on Bermuda’s constitutional and historical links with the United Kingdom, as well as its role within the wider Commonwealth.
During the visit, King Charles III is expected to take part in a ceremonial welcome featuring a Guard of Honour and a 21-gun salute, in keeping with traditional royal protocol.
The King is also set to officially open a new coastguard facility, highlighting the importance of maritime safety and environmental protection in the region.
