King Charles III

The Trusted Figure Leaving King Charles’ Inner Circle

The identity of King Charles III’s long-serving Head of Personal Security has finally been revealed following a retirement celebration held in his honour.

Known publicly for years only by the nickname “Jag,” the veteran protection officer was celebrated at a special gathering at Chelsea Barracks on Wednesday evening, marking the end of a distinguished career spent protecting the King.

For many years, Buckingham Palace avoided publicly identifying the officer, contributing to the air of mystery surrounding the man who was frequently seen accompanying Charles during major royal engagements and overseas visits.

Jag is understood to have stepped down from his role around a month ago, with the retirement celebration serving as a tribute to his decades of service and dedication to the monarch and the royal household.

The identity of King Charles’ lоng-serving personal Head of Security has finally beеn disclosed following a retirement celebration held in his honоur

James Eden, founder of the clothing label Private White V.C., was among the guests attending the retirement celebration and shared a heartfelt tribute to the King’s long-serving security chief.

Writing about the event, Eden said: “Last night I was honoured to be invited to Chelsea Barracks for a soirée celebrating the retirement of my good friend Jag, King Charles’ personal Head of Security for many years and, for those who know him, simply one of the finest people you will ever meet.”

Eden described Jag as “an absolute hero” and explained that he and his wife, Nikki, had become close friends after visiting his business several years ago.

He also praised Jag’s distinctive style, writing that he was “without question one of the most photogenic and stylish men I have ever met.”

The entrepreneur added that he had taken particular pleasure in seeing the King’s trusted bodyguard photographed around the world wearing clothing from Private White V.C. while carrying out royal duties alongside King Charles III.

Jag played a key role in protecting King Charles III during some of the most important royal events of recent years, including the Coronation and Royal Ascot.

His final official assignment took place during the King’s State Visit to the United States from April 27 to April 30.

The visit was carried out under particularly tight security arrangements following a shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 25, placing additional demands on the royal protection team.

After years of service at the heart of the monarchy, the trip marked the conclusion of Jag’s distinguished career as the King’s trusted Head of Security.

Despite initial uncertainty surrounding the trip, Buckingham Palace ultimately confirmed that King Charles III’s State Visit to the United States would proceed as planned.

Throughout the four-day visit, Jag remained a familiar presence at the monarch’s side, accompanying the King and Camilla, Queen Consort at key engagements, including the welcome garden party on the opening day.

According to reports, the royal couple have expressed a wish for Jag to remain connected to the royal household in some capacity following his retirement, reflecting the trust and respect he earned over many years of service.

Beyond his professional reputation, Jag also developed an unexpected following among royal watchers. His sharply tailored suits, distinctive beard, polished appearance and trademark umbrella often attracted attention online, with many comparing him to a real-life character from Kingsman: The Secret Service.

His combination of discretion, professionalism and unmistakable style made him one of the most recognisable members of the royal protection team, despite spending his career largely behind the scenes.
