Prince Harry Sparks New Palace Storm as Fresh Tensions Explode at a Critical Moment

Prince Harry has not had the best week. He and Meghan Markle have faced accusations of misleading the public over deleted Kardashian party photos, while both royal households have disputed claims about his recent trip to Toronto.

The Duke of Sussex spent two days in Canada at the start of the month to mark Remembrancetide. The announcement of his visit came just as his brother, the Prince of Wales, landed in Brazil for a five-day tour promoting the Earthshot Prize. The timing was widely viewed as an attempt to upstage his estranged brother, though Harry’s team insisted the Palace had been notified in advance.

Now, however, both Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace deny this, saying they received no advance notice of the duke’s trip.

A source told The Times that it was “a bit rum” to suggest the Palace had been forewarned when aides at both households had no knowledge of the visit before it became public. Notably, Harry’s office has refused to say when — or to whom — any supposed courtesy notification was given.

The conflicting accounts have revived the late Queen Elizabeth’s memorable line, “recollections may vary,” used in response to Harry and Meghan’s explosive 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey.

What stands out about the latest clash between Team Sussex and the Palaces is its timing. As the Royal Family continues to deal with the fallout from Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s Epstein scandal, Harry has become yet another source of frustration for the Firm.

Instead of demonstrating the value he once brought to the monarchy, he has irritated those in power by overshadowing William’s most important week of the year — and then appearing to be dishonest about it.

The Toronto trip may well have been planned far in advance, but why not simply keep the Palace informed?

Only a few months ago, Harry’s team met with the King’s aides to avoid scheduling conflicts and establish clearer lines of communication. It was an opportunity for the Sussexes to show they were willing to cooperate rather than work against the Palace — a chance to prove they were allies, not adversaries.

And yet here we are again, with competing briefings, denials, and growing frustration on both sides.

Harry has repeatedly said he wants to reconcile with his father and the wider Royal Family. If he truly means that, he must make sure his office works with the Palace machinery — not in opposition to it.
